Oliver Richardson is a current Junior TKM British Open Kart Champion looking to forward his career in motorsport and move up to race in the competitive Mini Challenge Trophy Championship. He has progressed from corporate karts into his own kart in the Honda cadet class (8-13 years) and the Junior TKM class (11-16 years), which boasts in its history such champions as Jenson Button, Anthony Davidson and Jason Plato.

 

Karting soon turned into a family affair with Dad, Mum and older brother all being part of the team and making it all possible. Competing at club level for the next four season, Oliver gained Driver of the Year awards and club Championships in both Cadet and Junior classes.

The 2018 season saw the move to the British Championship which finished with a podium and a final win. In addition, Oliver was invited to be Development Driver for Tal-Ko Racing for the 2019 season assisting them in further developments of equipment and race data.

 

This is by invitation only and he was one of only two junior drivers in the country. The investment paid off with Oliver being crowned 2019 Junior TKM British Open Champion. Throughout his karting career, his skill, bravery and race craft have been admired by competitors, spectators and race teams alike producing some outstanding drives and race wins in every season and class he’s raced in gaining him the respect and admiration from the whole paddock.

 

Looking to the future, Oliver, has made racing a career option and is looking to succeed as a professional racing driver.  In pursuit of this, Oliver is 1 of only 20 drivers selected in the UK by Motorsport UK (motorsports governing body) for their Elite Driver Academy, a full time programme situated at Loughborough College.

 

The academy aims to teach the skills both on and off the track to enable Oliver to be a professional racing driver with input from industry experts. By engaging with this curriculum, he is developing a greater understanding of the many aspects involved in forming a successful career as a professional racing driver. With Oliver now looking to progress his motorsport career towards GT racing.
